Battle Creek

Woke up at the crack of dawn this morning and drove out to the home of Kellogg’s cereal, Battle Creek, Michigan. It was dark almost the whole drive there which makes the driving a little more strenuous, but once I arrived and St. Joseph parish, the Lord confirmed the fact that I should be there. Spent the day with a fun and energetic group of teens for a retreat titled “Heaven on Earth.”

I encountered a beauty that is rarely seen in secular society today. Anticipation was hyped for adoration, the alter was all prepped and waiting for Jesus. A sister that was helping us walked up to the alter and with the most reverence you could imagine, the gentle fingers of this most kind soul straitening out a candle that was a little crooked. She wasn’t drawing attention to herself but I couldn’t help to notice the care that she put into the preparation of the place for Jesus. She wanted everything to be perfect and made sure it was.

Is there any action to small or to big for God? Is He my creator – the creator of all things, even color and movement and time? This lady probably wouldn’t remember the action if you asked her right now it was so simple, but it moved me. Helped me to realize that there is nothing I can do that God won’t appreciate.

Praise the Lord for this awesome day with the teens of Battle Creek. I am stoked!
